Technical
Support Specialist / A+
This
program is designed to prepare the student for employment
in areas such as Computer Technical Support and Help Desk.
The student can walk into the program with no knowledge of
computers and leave with an impressive knowledge of the following:
Personal Computer operation and architecture, basic and advanced
troubleshooting skills, technical support techniques and procedures,
and PC maintenance. .The technical support program offers
training in PC configuration, upgrading computer hardware,
installation of software and hardware, and troubleshooting
fundamentals. The student will learn and work with DOS, Windows
95/98, Windows NT Workstation 4.0, and Windows 2000 Professional
and learn how to network to Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows
2000 Server. The A+ Certification covers all aspects of hardware,
software, and troubleshooting and the student will get to
examine each component of a Personal Computer while they go
through a step by step process of assembling and customizing
a Personal Computer. The student will also learn how to troubleshoot
and support Hewlett Packard Laserjet printers. Our Technical
Support program is designed to give the student complete hands-on
in the class so the student has the confidence and ability
when working at the first job they encounter. The student
will also be thoroughly prepared to test for the highly recognized
“A+ Certification,” which is an industry wide
standard of determining the competence and proof of professional
achievement for a computer support specialist. When finished
with the class, the student can call Prometric at 1-800-77-MICRO
to register for the Computing Technology Industry Association’s
A+ Certification exams 220-221 and 220-222. The student needs
to pass both exams to receive the A+ Certification. Each exam
costs $139 and you are allowed 30 minutes per exam with 30
questions on each exam. ServFast Computers has a testing center
located at the school for the student’s convenience.

Program
length: 300 to 400 Hours
Days: Program runs 5 hours a day Monday through Friday from
8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Program Focus: The main focus of this entire
program is to prepare the student for any computer support
position that involves Personal Computers and networking skills
by giving the student a complete hands-on experience.

and home, the personal computer. Our Technical Support Specialist
program will give you the hands-on training and confidence
you need to enter the computer support field and having the
“A+ Certification” will demonstrate proof of professional
achievement as a Technical Support Specialist. Upon completion
of this program, students will be qualified for the following
Job Titles: Technical Support Specialist, PC Service Technician,
and PC Help Desk. (Individual experiences and backgrounds
will be a major factor in the levels of entry)

or South and take exit 82, which is Route 37 East. You then
go through exactly 1 light and immediately take the jug
